Messenger will send you an email to confirm that your request has been received. They will work to gather all your lovely Instagram messages in your backup file. Then, within a few hours, they will send you a second email to let you know that your messages are ready to be retrieved.
Download your data file and once saved, we recommend storing it in a safe and easily accessible place (your phone, computer, Google Drive, or other storage options). Then click on the link to create your paper book or e-book (PDF file) “I create my book” and upload the received .zip file without opening it (if your browser opens it by default, re-compress it before submitting it to us).
When you upload the file to the site, you will be prompted to choose from all the available conversations in your data file, whether they are individual or group. Once your choice is made, only the selected conversation will be transferred to your account.
During the transfer of your Messenger Chat to the site, we invite you to stay on the page while loading to ensure all photos are correctly transferred, ensuring you do not end up with only text.
You can always find your recorded conversations in your “My Conversations” area, where the number of messages, photos, and images will be indicated.
This also includes all other conversations transferred from iPhone SMS, Android SMS, Messenger, or WhatsApp. You can also delete them at any time.
Once the Messenger conversation is successfully transferred, you will be redirected to our customization area. Here, you can choose the title of your book, the color of its cover, and a photo. Ah, these error messages can be confusing, right? Sometimes Meta (formerly Facebook) creates incomplete archives. Even if you requested a JSON archive, they might forget to include the message file. To check, open the .zip file, go to the “messages” folder, then “inbox,” and see if you find the message_1.json files in the conversation folder. If no files are present, they were likely omitted. In this case, I recommend requesting the archive again. This usually solves the problem. Also, if you requested it through the app instead of the browser, you might have received the file in HTML format, which isn’t very useful. In this case, you should request it again from a browser to get the JSON format.
Usually, right after transferring your conversation, you choose the book title, then you can set the desired period. If the dates don’t match, are you sure you transferred your entire Instagram conversation? You need to choose “all time”. Are your messages present on your Instagram account?
Ah, are there little secrets hidden here? 😄 We chose not to offer this feature to preserve the authenticity of your exchanges and maintain their charm. However, if you absolutely want to delete certain messages, here’s a tip: delete them directly from your phone before creating your book. But shh, keep this trick to yourself, okay?
Did you correctly upload the entire .zip file and not just the .json file? If your browser automatically opened your file, simply compress the folder named “messages” back into a .zip format. If you’re unsure, we recommend starting the procedure from the beginning.
This symbol means that some photos were not transferred correctly. To fix this issue, you can try transferring your conversation again. If that doesn’t work, feel free to contact us.
Unfortunately, when there are many messages (a testament to great love), they sometimes can’t all fit into one book. We strive to include as many messages as possible in each book, but when it’s too much, it’s too much. Multiple books may be necessary.
Great news! It’s entirely possible. Just transfer the different iMessage, Android SMS, Messenger, WhatsApp, or Instagram conversations to your account. Then, in the ‘My Conversations’ tab, you will have the option to merge these conversations into one.
No worries, it’s very simple! Follow these steps to manage your .zip files and keep only the conversation you’re interested in:
Download the ZIP Files: Start by downloading all the .zip files provided by Instagram.
Unzip the Files: Use a software like WinRAR or 7-Zip to unzip the files, if not done automatically.
Go to the “messages” Folder: Open the unzipped folder and go to the subfolder named “messages”.
Enter the “inbox” Folder: You’ll see a folder named “inbox” in “messages”. Click to open it.
Find Your Conversation: Look for the folder that corresponds to the conversation you want to keep.
Clean Up: Delete all other conversation folders, keeping only the one you’re interested in.
Check Other ZIP Files: If your conversation is spread across multiple .zip files, repeat steps 2 to 6 for each file, and combine everything into one “inbox” folder.
Recompress Everything: Now that you have what you want, recompress the “messages” folder. It should only contain the folder of your conversation in the “inbox” folder. The .zip file should be much lighter now.
Upload to the Site: Then, go to “Create My Book” and upload your newly compressed .zip file.
