How many texts a day is normal
How many texts a day is normal. How many texts a day is normal in a relationship. How many is too much. The question wants an average. One survey has one. It is not your chat.
The number that belongs to you is the imported thread. MonLivreSMS shows it for free, before any guess at how many pages a book would be.

Nine messages, in one French survey
Ipsos, for a French brand, asked 1,200 people aged 18 to 35 who were in a couple, at the end of 2018. Published in February 2019: 9 messages and 2 calls a day, 14 messages under 25. 94 percent text every day. 67 percent use the phone in the middle of the night.
That is a French snapshot of one age band. It is not a ceiling, and it is not proof that a relationship is fine or failing.
A thread total is not a daily average
Dividing messages by the days between the first and the last smooths the gaps. Active days, days with at least one message, say something else than the whole calendar.
Days together, on the calculator, start from a date you type. They do not count the days you actually wrote. The two pages answer two questions.
This is not a sending cap
“How many messages a day” also leads to WhatsApp Business limits and chatbots. This page is about one conversation between people, not a sending quota.
Is 22 texts on a writing day too much
On Maya and Sam’s thread, 8,420 messages from January 2024 to October 2026. Across the whole calendar, about 8 texts a day. On the 390 days they actually wrote, about 22. The French survey says 9, and 14 under 25. This thread sits near 9 if you count the empty days, and above 14 if you only count writing days.
“How many texts a day is normal”, “in a relationship”, and “too much” do not get a rule from that pair. 22 on a writing day is this chat’s pace. The message counter answers the size, 8,420. This page answers the rhythm. Days together start from a date you type, not from those 390 days.

Frequently asked questions
Is 9 texts a day low?
It is what 18-to-35-year-olds in French couples reported in 2019. Real threads sit far above or far below that, without the gap saying how good the bond is.
How do we get our number?

Are “days together” the same thing?
No. The calculator starts from the day you met. Active days start from the messages.
